New domain extension: .xxx

A new domain extension will soon be entering the public domain market: the extension .xxx, available from September 1st 2011.

There is a possibility to give domain owners a chance to protect their domain name of any association with the adult entertainmente industry, by blocking the registry of this extension. This will only be possible for a limited period: until August 2011 in a free pre-reservation system and from August to September to final registry, upon a unique and lifetime payment.

By doing so, the use of well-known brands for adult entertainment industry purposes is avoided.

In order to block this extension you must be the legal owner of the brand and have the papers to prove it. If these conditions are fulfilled, the .xxx domain extension will be block permanently.

The .XXX extension can only be used by the adult entertainment industry. It is not possible to register it for any other industry: this iniciative wants to create a "red light district" on the Internet.
